The Seoul Skin Edit: My Experience at The Heal
An honest review of my £1,600 treatment experience in Seoul, from Ultherapy PRIME to lasers, skin quality and everything in between.
A little beauty discovery in Seoul
We travelled to South Korea for Cosmobeauty Seoul, hoping to discover exciting brands, new technologies and the latest innovations in beauty.
As beauty buyers, Seoul felt like a dream. There was so much to discover, from skincare formulations to advanced aesthetic treatments.
Naturally, I wanted to experience some of these innovations myself.
However, choosing a clinic wasn't as simple as I expected. Seoul has an incredible number of aesthetic clinics, with advertisements, offers and treatment packages everywhere.
I was excited, but also a little overwhelmed.
When it comes to my face, I prefer to be cautious. I wanted somewhere that offered professional care, clear communication and a comfortable environment, particularly as I don't speak Korean.
After considering my options, I chose The Heal in Sinsa.
It was certainly a luxury choice, but one I felt comfortable making.
Here's everything about my experience, including the treatments, the pain, the results and whether I would return.
01. First impressions: a beautiful, considered experience
What immediately stood out to me at The Heal was the attention to detail.
The clinic felt calm, private and thoughtfully designed. The staff were welcoming, and I appreciated having translators available throughout the consultation.
My mother accompanied me, and she was given a lovely waiting area within my private space.
It was a small detail, but one that made the experience feel especially personal.
Before beginning any treatment, the team carried out a comprehensive skin assessment.
They took professional photographs and used an advanced imaging device to analyse different aspects of my skin, including hydration, oil production, sebum, wrinkles and estimated skin age.
I found the technology fascinating.
Although these devices provide estimates rather than medical diagnoses, I appreciated the detailed approach.
Afterwards, we moved into a private consultation room, where the dermatology team and translators explained the proposed treatments.
I felt reassured by having the opportunity to understand the process before proceeding.
For me, this was an important part of the experience.
02. My treatment plan
Following the consultation, we discussed several treatments to address my skin concerns, including texture, pores, redness and facial contouring.
My treatment plan included:
- HydraFacial-style facial: To cleanse my skin and address active breakouts.
- Ultherapy PRIME: To improve lifting, tightening and jawline definition.
- Potenza RF: Radiofrequency microneedling intended to improve skin texture.
- Skin Botox: To refine the appearance of pores and skin texture.
- MOXI and a redness-targeting laser: To address skin texture and redness associated with rosacea.
It was a comprehensive treatment plan, and certainly not something I would suggest replicating without a personalised medical consultation.
The exact combination of procedures should always depend on your skin's condition, medical history and the advice of a qualified professional.
After discussing the plan, I decided to proceed.
03. The facial: a lovely beginning
We started with a facial focused on cleansing my skin and treating my active breakouts.
The treatment lasted approximately an hour and a half, and I completely fell asleep.
The room was peaceful, the treatment was relaxing, and the staff made sure I was comfortable throughout.
They even gave me a little teddy bear to hold.
A very sweet touch, and one I particularly appreciated later in the appointment.
The facial was a beautiful way to begin the experience.
Ultherapy, however, was a completely different story.
04. Ultherapy PRIME: beautiful results, but quite painful
I wanted to improve my facial contours and achieve a more defined jawline without using dermal fillers.
Ultherapy PRIME was one of the treatments recommended during my consultation.
It uses focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin to stimulate collagen production, with the aim of gradually improving lifting and tightening.
I was excited about the potential results.
What I wasn't expecting was the pain.
Ultherapy was, without question, one of the most painful beauty treatments I've experienced.
Thankfully, the team was incredibly attentive.
One lovely nurse held my hand during the procedure, even though my mother was right there beside me.
The doctor was professional, and the staff's kindness helped me feel more comfortable.
It wasn't an easy treatment for me, but I have since noticed a visible improvement in my facial contours.
My jawline looks more defined, and I love that I achieved this appearance without dermal fillers.
As I had several treatments, I can't attribute the entire result to Ultherapy alone. Results also vary between individuals and can continue developing over several months.
Would I consider having it again?
Yes, based on my experience and the improvements I've noticed. I would, however, discuss pain management in advance.
05. MOXI and laser treatments: the pursuit of beautiful skin
Another important part of my treatment plan was improving my overall skin quality.
I wanted a smoother, more luminous complexion, with particular attention to texture and redness.
My treatments included MOXI, a fractional laser intended to improve skin tone and texture, alongside a laser treatment targeting redness associated with rosacea.
These procedures were also quite painful for me.
However, I have been very pleased with the changes I've noticed since my appointment.
My skin looks smoother, more refined and noticeably more luminous.
It has that beautiful, healthy-looking glow I was hoping for.
Because I underwent multiple procedures, it's difficult to determine exactly which treatment contributed most to the improvements.
But looking at the overall results, I'm genuinely happy with how my skin looks.
For me, the combination of improved skin quality and more defined facial contours has been particularly lovely.
06. The price: was £1,600 worth it?
My treatment experience
£1,600
Approximate total for my treatment package, subject to confirmation against my receipt.
Would I return? Yes.
A luxury experience that I personally valued for its attentive service, comfort and visible results.
Let's talk about the price.
I spent approximately £1,600 on my treatments at The Heal.
It was expensive, particularly considering the number of clinics in Seoul offering competitive treatment packages.
I'm sure there are other wonderful clinics at more accessible prices, but I can only speak about my own experience.
For me, choosing The Heal was about more than the treatments themselves.
I valued the detailed consultation, the translators, the privacy and the attention I received from the team.
Being in a country where I didn't speak the language, I wanted to feel informed and comfortable throughout the process.
I also appreciated the time spent assessing my skin before discussing the treatment plan.
Of course, a beautiful clinic and premium pricing don't automatically guarantee better medical outcomes. Professional qualifications, appropriate treatment selection and aftercare are essential, regardless of the price.
But personally, I felt that the experience and the improvements I've noticed made the investment worthwhile.
My Quiet Beauty verdict
Would I recommend The Heal?
Based on my personal experience, yes.
I loved the thoughtful service, the technology, the privacy and the care I received from the staff.
The treatments weren't all comfortable, particularly Ultherapy, but I appreciated how attentive the team was throughout the appointment.
Most importantly, I'm very happy with the changes I've noticed in my skin.
My complexion looks more luminous and refined, and my jawline appears more defined without dermal fillers.
I would happily return to The Heal on my next visit to Seoul.
My advice would be to approach aesthetic treatments thoughtfully. Take time to understand the procedures, discuss the risks and recovery, and choose a qualified professional who makes you feel comfortable asking questions.
For me, this was a memorable introduction to Seoul's aesthetic beauty scene, and an experience I'm glad I had.
With love,
