Glass Skin Routine (K-Beauty Skincare Guide)
Hydrated, luminous Korean glass skin using layered hydration
The Korean glass skin routine layers thin, water-light formulas to build a translucent, lit-from-within finish. Hydration first, occlusion last.

- Frequency

- Key actives
- Hyaluronic acid · Niacinamide · Fermented rice · Panthenol
The steps
In the order to wear them.
- Step 01
Double cleanse
An oil cleanser to dissolve makeup and sunscreen, then a gentle gel cleanser for the skin itself.
- Step 02
Hydrating toner
Pat in two or three layers of a watery essence-toner — the classic Korean seven-skin method.
- Step 03
Essence
A fermented or rice-based essence to flood the skin with humectants.
- Step 04
Serum
Niacinamide or hyaluronic acid for clarity and bounce.
- Step 05
Moisturiser
A gel-cream that seals hydration without weight.
- Step 06
SPF (AM)
Broad-spectrum sunscreen — non-negotiable for true glass skin.
How to use it well
- Apply every layer to slightly damp skin; humectants need water to hold.
- Press, never rub. Friction is what breaks the finish.
- Exfoliate no more than twice a week — glass skin is hydration, not sanding.
Questions
- How long does it take to see glass skin?
- Most people see a visible change in surface hydration within two weeks, and a settled, even finish at around six to eight weeks of consistent layering.
- Does the glass skin routine work on oily skin?
- Yes. Oily skin is often dehydrated. Keep the same layers but choose water-light toners and a gel-cream rather than a balm.
- Can I use retinol in a glass skin routine?
- Use it on alternate evenings, applied after the essence and before the moisturiser, and never on the same night as an acid exfoliant.
